8th Wall is a web-based platform for building augmented reality experiences that run directly in a mobile or desktop browser, eliminating the need for native app downloads. It leverages computer vision and machine learning algorithms for SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), enabling accurate tracking and environmental understanding. The platform supports image targets, world tracking, and face effects, allowing developers to create immersive AR experiences. 8th Wall provides a developer-friendly API and tools for creating and deploying WebAR projects, including integrations with popular 3D modeling and game engine tools. The platform includes a drag-and-drop interface for rapid prototyping, GenAI asset creation, and live testing. With the transition to an open-source model, developers can self-host and create offline workflows. Post-transition, a limited-use binary engine will be available for continued development.
